Damnoen Saduak floating market & Maeklong railway market
The trip, in short
Damnoen Saduak by nine o’clock is a souvenir arcade. At seven it is still a working canal market, and the difference is entirely down to when you leave Bangkok. We leave at six.
You get a private longtail through the back klongs — not the paddle-boat scrum on the main canal — then the hour’s drive to Maeklong, where the market is built across a live railway line and packs itself away eight times a day as the train passes with about sixty centimetres to spare.
We time the arrival to one of the scheduled passes. The timetable moves; we check it the day before and adjust your pick-up if needed.

- This is a genuinely early start. The 06:00 pick-up is the whole reason the trip works.
- Train times at Maeklong are set by the State Railway and occasionally change at short notice.
- The floating market vendors expect to be haggled with. Start at half.
